Re: Dawkins sues Josh Timonen

Maybe Josh can get the cell next to Kent Hovind's, so they can exchange financial tips.

Re: Apology from Richard Dawkins (Yes Really).

Well, it takes some balls for a high-profile guy like RD to issue a public apology like that, and one good thing is that it will wrest some arguments from the hands of the fundies. Still, I don't think things will be easily patched. I doubt most ex-RDFers will flood back to the new format forum, but...

Re: Alternatives to look at?

rationalskepticism.org is doing fine! We just passed the 500 member mark and 10,000 posts today, and that in just three days. In yer face, RD! Thanks to Ratz for helping us rally and move on, and as you can see, some of us pop in here every now and then. Even if we could've done without the drama, t...

Re: Can we get a bit of perspective please

Hey, we just got our 500th member, and we'll have 10,000 posts before the day is over. All this in just three days, much thanks to you guys letting us in here so we could rally. In yer face, RD!

Re: Can we get a bit of perspective please

Well, I understand that some of the old guard here might have felt resent- or amusement when the refugees flooded in, but many of us had joined RDF after the purge in 2008 (I joined in November '08). Now it seems like the atheist community has benefited in some ways - Ratz has got new members, ratio...

Well, if you skim the latest 600 people in the members list, you'll see that plenty of them have posted here on Ratz, and I hope it isn't only in the "Announcement about RDF" sub-forum...

Re: Can we get a bit of perspective please

I don't think anyone here needs to worry. The membership here has jumped by some 600 members this week, but rationalskepticism.org is up and running properly now, with 439 members as of this writing. I guess there'll be some stragglers, but most who are looking for the RDF crowd will probably conti...

Re: The Road by Cormac Mcarthy

"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands" (Psalm.19.1), "since the creation of the world, God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made" (Romans.1.20). Sorry to start like that, b...

Thanks for the tip! The brown colour makes for poor contrast, and Prosilver is much easier on the eyes.

Re: Can we get a bit of perspective please

I don't think anyone here, oldtimers and newcomers alike, want to turn Ratz into an RDF bash-fest or pity-party. Normally, a forum grows slowly, but with so many ex-RDFers homeless, the sudden influx will strain things a bit. I understand that this is a fairly close-knit community, but from what I'v...

Re: The Road by Cormac Mcarthy

I read it about a year ago, and was floored. While the writing style took some getting used to (like 10-20 pages), I found it to be one of the most chilling post-apocalyptic novels I've read. I mean, there was almost no hope at all. Not a deus ex machina ending, IMO, but just a tiny hint at hope. I'...

Some are predicting this may be the weapon of the future and may even render the ironclad obsolete. http://www.astea.ch/physik/jpgs/zeppelin2.jpg They scare the crap out of me on a daily basis. There is something menacing about them.... Freud would probably have had an opinion about that. :coffee: ...
