WW2 ... No Longer The Black And White War

I just found this two hour plus documentary:

Now, WW2 is in colour. Colour film, that is. And rather a lot of it.

Something else for 'Zilla to add to his terabytes of data. :)

There's a series of colorized shows running in the US.

This one, however, comprises what is claimed to be original colour footage. Thought I'd pass it on for your perusal. Doubtless you'll be able to tell what's genuine and what isn't. :)

I'm aware of some genuine colour footage in circulation, such as some footage shot by a cameraman attached to the 42nd Infantry Division (apparently known as the "Rainbow division" because of its sleeve patch). That footage includes footage of the liberation of Dachau.

I can tell you right off that still is colorized.

Much as I love to see true colour footage of WW II, I'm aware that most footage of WW II is B & W. So to properly represent WW II, you'll need a lot of B & W to go with the colour.

As for the colourized stuff, I remember seeing some WW I footage of the Red Baron beside his plane, looking suspiciously coloured in all red when parts of it should have been left in the original streaky camouflage. :what:
