Does anybody else feel that it's... perhaps... a little over-rated?

As in Pink Floyd? Absolutely!
I think everything after Dark Side of the Mood was a bit of a let down personally. And I loved their early stuff with Sid Barrett. They seemed to loose their muse when he lost his mind..

I wouldn't go that far, but "The Wall" just seems bland compared to almost everything either side of it.

Good? Maybe, but I don't believe it deserves the recognition it got.

I love it, but would take Meddle, Animals, or Wish You Were Here over it any day, Animals being my personal favorite. Dark Side of the Moon is technically brilliant, by the way, but leaves me cold. It doesn't have the same emotional resonance as the other discs, in my opinion. The Wall is brilliant, I think, but had some rough edges that could have been polished up. I remember reading an interview with David Gilmour in which he expressed his frustration in this regard. He didn't feel The Wall was up to Pink Floyd's usual high standards, and would like to have improved it a bit. But by this point, Floyd was basically The Roger Waters Band, and so Glimour unfortunately had little say in the matter.

The album has some bright spots. Thank goodness Gilmour was still holding some sway, unlike in the dreary Final Cut album that followed it. Personally, I prefer earlier Floyd stuff. I had the live disc of Ummagumma on in my car the other day. 
The movie was awful. I don't want to list all the reasons why, but it just was.
As for The Wall concerts, those remain a work of genius. Not that I'm planning on seeing Roger Waters' re-creation of it this fall. That show is coming to my area in October, but without Gilmour I think I'll pass.

I like the cover version of the wall much better these days.
They did the whole album in this style, but only a few songs are on youtube.
I also prefer the Easy Star All Stars' version of Dark Side.

What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

For me, Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon, and Animals are much better albums than The Wall. But I wouldn't call it bad.
