I’m listening to an 80s covers band. It’s awful. But most of the 80s was awful.
I started thinking of covers bands. This is the list of Rush covers bands.

Who knew? I’ve seen a Beatles tribute band. It was OK.
Ever seen any Tribute bands?

Re: Who knew? Tribute bands
Never seen a tribute act other than fake Elvis', but I used to be in a band with the bass player and drummer of 'Off the Wall' - a passable Pink Floyd tribute act.

Re: Who knew? Tribute bands
That might be the exception. I've seen Genesis with Gabriel in 1974 or so, so any tribute would be fake. But I would go see a Pink Floyd tribute band. Roger Waters still tours but closest gig was 3 hrs drive away last time.

I saw Aussie Pink Floyd, they were very good. Of course I was on a heavy regimen of pharmaceuticals.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Another Floyd one --there seem to be several-- was in Houston recently. I saw it and then forgot about it.

A short drive or even walk to the lake let's me listen to anyone playing at the pavilion. Not too long ago my son and I fished and listened to Cheap Trick.

Re: Who knew? Tribute bands
I went to a bar in Madison WI in 1975 or 6 and heard a covers band playing. They really sucked at covers, but they had a bit of fun and were dressed a little goofy. I left after one set. They were Cheap Trick. The following years revealed there were no bars to play in their home town of Rockford IL, so they became a Madison fixture. Their first LP came out while they still played our clubs. Rick Nielsen was often an MC announcer. I think I heard him announce Elvis Costello once.
