Xurse my typing skills and my clumsy fingers... But you're not done dealing with the problem, if Devo Max is not up to expectations, you'll get uprisings in the North and West.

Indeed. The real work of destroying the Tories, Lib Dems and UKIP and delivering social justice for all 60 million people on this damp island begins.

So...They bottled it. It was the sensible but boringly safe thing to do.

No, I don't think so.
They saw through the lies that they were being fed. Two million did anyway.
I'm disappointed for me. It would have been a lot of fun watching Alex Salmond's lies unravel one by one.

Now the Scot Nats have the gall to say that they expect every promise of the no campaign to be honoured to THEIR satisfaction, when they knew they weren't going to honour, or be able to honour, all the extravagant pledges that THEY were making.

It's been a fucking disgrace. Alex Salmond has put Scotland through two years of misery, just to try to avoid what has just happened in spite of him. He could have had this referendum ages ago, and avoided all this, but he wanted the maximum lying time, so that, after a long time of constant repetition, people might stop questioning his shit.
David Cameron is an idiot. He should never have agreed to this vote, or the question in it.
The only way that a region should be allowed to split, is following a vote of the WHOLE UK. Not the part that has a splitter party. And there would have to be a UK majority, AND a Scottish majority, for it to happen.

What the EU should now do, now that it's over, is declare that no splitters should be allowed membership for thirty years following a split, unless that same vote had been taken by all.
Splitting up countries is pointless and divisive unless it's what everybody wants.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

One thing I would say about the betting odds is that the result shows that the bookies and gamblers got it right.
I thought that the opinion polls narrowing to such a degree as they did right at the end was a sign that three to one was great odds for a yes vote.
But it seems pretty obvious that the polls got it wrong, it was never that close. And the bookies and the gamblers knew what they were doing. Maybe a lifetime of gambling and studying trends give you a better insight than opinion pollsters can get.

I'm glad I never followed my instincts and bet on yes, anyway.
I was tempted, but I'm glad I bottled it. Sometimes bottling it saves you from disaster.

Independence scotched. Catalans and Basques discouraged. Bavaria Party crestfallen. Plans to send in 50,000 US advisors cancelled. Putin decides to donate 600 truckloads worth of humanitarian aid. Pope regrets that he no longer has a world-beating army. Sun resumes moving along its normal path. Haggis futures down, fried Mars bars up. It's business as usual for Johnnie Walker but not at St. Andrews.

Catalans will still hold their illegal referendum anyway.

Not great land, in Mexico City, from what I heard.
