GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Grand Island Police said a woman in her 70s was scammed by an Elon Musk impersonator.

Police said a woman had tried to do some research to invest with Tesla a few years ago, but instead she ended up meeting someone on social media with the username Elon Musk.

GIPD said the woman believed she was speaking with Musk and over the course of years, sent several thousand dollars via Bitcoin.

The woman’s husband reported to police that she had sent over $20,000 to the impersonator.

Police said the realization came when the person had asked her to secure a $1 million loan for Tesla.

According to the BBB Scam Tracker Risk Report, impersonation is a very common tactic used by scammers.

My Finnish friend works at the medical school in Omaha. He is not a doctor, he is in occupational health. So farmers do not kill themselves with equipment and chemicals.
