In cities for anything other than emergencies services,taxis or other special needs, the world is already heading that way and has been doing so but may decades. You need to pay to drive into central London (that's separate to having to park). Could easily spend £50 /$80 a day in parking fees/ congestion charge to do so. Wasn't New York considering something similar.You want to ban cars too. You've gotta be shitting me
90% + of people in London (and New York) use public transport every day to get to work, how else would a city that large function?.
Outside cities cars are generally restricted by taxes on petrol (while they bring in revenue of their prime purposes is to encourage people not to drive) and road tolls. There isnt any requirement for any legal restrictions (yet)
