Then again, he's Down Under. Impressive that he managed to survive long enough to sign up. I'm guessing he's been eaten, poisoned, maimed, infected, decapitated, trounced, bounced, or atomized by something or other down there.
He hasn't been heard of in his usual ports-of-call for some time now. If it's just a chosen time of absence, it was unannounced.

The sad thing about reaching old age... if you suddenly go quiet, people think that you're dead.

Potted history: A recovering Catholic for over 40 years. Today I call myself an agnostic atheist,as well as a skeptic, egoist, utilitarian, moral relativist and misanthrope who does not cope well with fools.

I came here as the result of the recommendation of a person I respect on another forum.

That'll do,introduction posts can get really boring really quickly.
You may be on the wrong forum.

...said the "Christian".

I'm concerned about Pad, myself. I just stated a truth. Very peculiar reaction.

As am I. There could be a perfectly good reason for his absence (which doesn't involve sudden poor health), and I was just reflecting (with a touch of sadness) that the older you get, the more likely it is that people will pencil-in "dead" before other (sometimes more likely) explanations.

I'm no spring chicken myself, and a similar assumption will eventually be made about me.

I'm still hopeful that he had a love-at-first-sight experience and is currently "discovering himself" (and the body of a willing companion) somewhere in India with a respectable amount of marijuana in his backpack.
