Lots of slimy eels. Later season had some trout too bu they had big meat animals available, paddy melons and small kangas if they could catch.
Rising waters a big problem.

Enjoying this and learning a lot.



I'm really glad Wallace - the co-developer of the Theory of Evolution is getting his due. This covers the Wallace Line. Perhaps the best science book I've ever read is The Song of the Dodo where David Quannam journeys the Wallace Line and retraces Wallace's original journey - a mix of hilarious anecdotes combined with seriously good science had me in stitches and then wonder at times.
Highly recommended
