Single-player mode? If not, then pfft.

Who wants a single player mode? Playing online and whooping strangers is the only enjoyment to be got from games these days.

Everyone normal should really be playing this.
It's a free download. You know you want to.

This would require me to get Half-life 2 before I could play this wouldn't it?

No. I don't think so. Or does it? Shit.

Most mods will be fine with any source game, however, some specifically require certain ones because of the resources they use. As far as I can tell, any source game will do for this.

You can download a Source file from Stream apparently. I can't find it any where though. Gonna have to get my friend to help me install it now. I only downloaded it this morning. I was playing it all day in his house yesterday.

Yes, you can download the source files from steam, but the mods require you to own at least a single source game to play them.
At least as far as I recall.
Edit: Also, mods still pull files from games directly. I can't run some mods because I don't have the original half-life 2, even though I have Episode One and Episode Two.

You can download source sdk as a torrent. Hopefully this'll work.

I got hooked on Goldeneye, on the N64. For months after I stopped playing, I couldn't pass a CCTV camera without wanting to shoot it.
I run with scissors. It makes me feel dangerous
