Yes, and naturally so. Americans speak American, but the variants spoken by the inhabitants of the northeast sounds a bit like English.Faithfree wrote:maybe all foreigners default to a NY accent in that quiz?

People from outside North America probably think you`re from the States, but over here we wouldn't make such a mistake.

You have a Northern accent. That could either be the Chicago/Detroit/Cleveland/Buffalo accent (easily recognizable) or the Western New England accent that news networks go for.
In other words, I speak English the way it's meant to be spokenI just like British things. Since the Percy story was set in England, I tried to make it sound as authentic as possible. Several Brits here helped me with that, though some mistakes still ended up slipping by unfortunately.

I thought he was a Brit who moved to Massachusetts. You folk do immigrate, right? Or do you just stay put and let the whaler's wife wait and wait in a cruel unfulfilled expectancy?Xamonas Chegwé wrote:The hundred or so posts wherein he mentions Massachusetts should have been a clue... I thought you read his book! If you actually think that was written by a genuine brit, you had better stick to proof-reading strictly American writing!

Western
Western is kind of neutral, but not quite since it`s still possible to tell where you`re from. So you might not actually be from the West (but you probably are). If you really want to sound "neutral," learn how to say "stock" and "stalk" differently.

Yeah. Great result because the quiz is so well devised. Would anyone be surprised if the site determined that Lordpasternack had a Northeastern accent?
