Double entendre aside, I was wondering how meatballs came to be considered real, healthy food. LOL. Yes, we're going to have some nice healthy food. Whose bringing the meatballs? I don't consider yardwork or home maintenance as housework. Most people don't. Cleaning, laundry, dishes, taking out the trash, all that stuff is what most consider housework. My garage is attached to my house, but I don't consider it in my house.Coito ergo sum wrote:The garage is in the house and constitutes housework, as does handyman work. But, it's all in how you look at it, I guess. The diminution of male contributions to the household sticks in my craw. Not that you diminish your husband's contributions. Clearly you respect them very much. But, it is very often that I hear men's contributions belittled. SWMBO'd belongs to this discussion group on a social networking site for mothers of small babies. Notice that the comparison point was potato chips and popcorn, not fish and veggies. The traditional stuff that men do around the house is not considered housework, so when they do that, but don't do the stuff women traditionally took the lead on, they are told they aren't doing anything or not pulling their weight.Kristie wrote:I don't consider yardwork or home maintenance as housework. Re: Husbands who do female housework have less sex
Would you mind asking them if the Slovaks should still be considered Czechs? Back in the day, we had Czechoslovakia, and we could call them all Czechs. Now we have the Czech Republic and Slovakia. But, do we call the Slovaks "Czechs" still? Or, did they just stop being Czechs when the country split? One day they were Czechs and the next day Slovaks? How did this work?Bella Fortuna wrote:I'm going to start writing Czechs.Coito ergo sum wrote:It isn't an "American bastardization." I could see that being true if both are working full time jobs and the wife is the one taking care of the kids and all the housework. Especially if they don't have to keep up the yard, like my house or an apartment.Coito ergo sum wrote:The traditional stuff that men do around the house is not considered housework, so when they do that, but don't do the stuff women traditionally took the lead on, they are told they aren't doing anything or not pulling their weight.Kristie wrote:I don't consider yardwork or home maintenance as housework. Re: Husbands who do female housework have less sex
...makes me think that I was being offensive back in the 1980s, referring to all the Slovaks as Czechs. I mean, they were probably all like, "Hey, we're not Czechs! We're the Slovaks!" And, then people were all like, "fuck you! You're Czechoslovakians! We're not wasting time figuring out which of you slavs are Czechs and which ones Slovaks!" And, then the Slovaks were all like, "yeah well fuck you twice! We're going to break off into a whole 'nother country and you'll have to call us Slovaks then!" And, the rest of the work was like:MiM wrote:Just don't call the Slovaks Czechs, unless you want a black eye.Coito ergo sum wrote:Would you mind asking them if the Slovaks should still be considered Czechs?
