I've only ever joined 4 forums and I've been deleted from 2 (and one was for copy pasting a scientific paper )

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

I think we're all jealous that Richard loves Josh more than all of us. It must be one hell of a relationship they have if Richard thought giving 80,000 fans the finger over trusting Josh was worthwhile. I mean any celebrity would be grateful to their fans. It's how they and/or their ideas/music gets to be known and spread.

I'm coming into this controversy at the tail end, so I don't have the connection to the RDF forums that a lot of people had. From the description that they've given, I don't think they (RDF) intend to really have a forum again. You will have to submit a topic and that will be moderated first, and then posted for discussion. It's a much more controlled discussion space. I suspect they want to do it that way in order to shield the RDF from quote mining of the forums by their opponents, but I'm just speculating.
Regardless, the way they clumsily shut down the active forums is surprisingly, well, clumsy. But they sure have ample space between them and both rationalia and rationalskeptic now, don't they?

I don't think 'we' all are at all. I've got less of an attatchment to Richard than I do to my dorm mates, and I don't know most of my dorm mates even by sight.kiki5711 wrote:I think we're all jealous that Richard loves Josh more than all of us. Well I didn't mean every single person but fans are fans. They are your bread and butter. Ask any celebrity, book writer, singer, actor. I meant it in that way.born-again-atheist wrote:I don't think 'we' all are at all. I strongly suspect that RD prefers his fans to be anonymous buyers of his books, who then encourage others to buy them, but don't pester the great man himself...kiki5711 wrote:Well I didn't mean every single person but fans are fans.
