A challenging question, both philosophically and scientifically. Philosophically, it goes to the heart of semantic theory. Is a planet defined as any sufficiently large object in orbit around a star? Or must it have certain appearances or properties, for example a spherical shape? If the latter, we sharply confront the scientific ramifications of this deep question. Any sufficiently large horse would instantly collapse under its own gravity and become spherical. But then it would no longer be a horse. These are deep waters indeed.

Oddly enough, in their attempt to restructure the forum and make it more accessible to outside readers, what they have effectively done is eliminate all but the whining atheist apologetics (Yes, I used that term) and psuedo-intellectual quandries that plagued the philosophy section (and now plague ours).

Yup the French love their horse meat, I remember going to France on a school trip and being given burgers to eat, turns out they were horse burgers, didn't bother me but there were a couple of very upset 13 year old equestrians!

I remember when I was a fully paid up member of a forum about the Titanic - there was some seriously in depth shit about the ship there from people who really could describe themselves as experts - everything from the propulsion system and technical reports, to theories about grounding, how the ship broke up, crew and passenger research, everything right down to the fashions of the era (Bella would have loved all that stuff).

Of course, hundreds of wet knickered girls would call by each day to find out all about Jack Dawson, and there would usually be about ten posts regaling us all with made up shite about someone's great granny who was on board (but wasn't really - oh, we did enjoy the devastation it caused when we proved they couldn't have been on the Titanic, although like religion many refused to believe us). There were ususally a couple of posts about cursed mummies and dirt about conspiracy theories. All of that bollocks was dumped in a great big bin called "Message Board" and it was poked over for fun if things were quiet on the main forum.

Looks like Dawkins forum has thrown out the experts and now has to build using the wet knicker brigade.

All that time and brainpower spent by the former members on in-depth science without a word from Dawkins.
