Thanksgiving Day is a tradition in our country dating back to the early European settlers in Plymouth, Massachusetts, known as Pilgrims. Nearly half of their number had died of disease, starvation, and exposure.
This was a bit before the settlers took over the country.

My fav. holiday though! Lots of food and family without having to worry about stupid presents.

They have Thanksgiving in Canada as well. It happens about a month before the US, and instead of eating turkey, they eat people.
