I've not seen you take any interest in free speech before. Tell me, is this in any way connected to your strong feelings aligning with one side of this middle-east conflict?

That's sweet, I didn't know you cared. You haven't been here much, so your observations don't amount to much. In fact I've regularly written on the topic here, going back for years.

I'm definitely opposed to the genocide that Israel has been perpetrating in Gaza. However, my primary interest in this particular case is how thoroughly it exposes the Trumpist regime for the lawless authoritarian goons that they are. I brought it up with you because I thought it could be a means to discover whether you actually mean it when you say free speech matters to you.

Just noting that past citations of the principle of free speech on your part (for instance claiming that you like Republicans because they're for free speech) are now exposed as empty posturing. Same for any future noise in the same vein.

It's a striking example of the naked authoritarianism Trump and his gang have chosen to adopt. You forget that in my posts on the topic I made a point of emphasizing the lack of due process as much as the violation of the right to free speech. Trump's government took a legal permanent resident of the country into custody without any legal basis and intends to bar him from living in the US, violating his right to a legal defense, a right protected in the Constitution of the US. As is the right to free speech, of course.

Again, if Biden had done the same to some bitch-ass wannabe Nazi shithead I think you'd be singing a different tune. If so we would have been in agreement. I agree with the ACLU, who defended the loser Illinois Nazis' right to march. But as you like to say, you do you.

Yeah, I get the feeling you care about due process even less than you care about free speech, which is why it 'slipped your mind' and you continue to ignore the issue.

You could easily have found the Nazis who were defended by the ACLU if you wanted to learn something. It's a famous case in the defense of free speech. You're correct, he came to the US on a student visa. He then went through the legal process to get permanent resident status. You're attempting to make it out that he was in the US under false pretence but that is definitely not the case. It's a feeble attempt at a red herring though. Regardless of his immigration status he has the same right to free speech and a fair trial as anybody else in the US, as has been repeatedly shown in this thread.

Thanks again for confirming just how little you care about free speech. It makes that aphorism in your signature wonderfully ironic: 'Free speech anywhere, is a threat to tyrants everywhere.'
