I seem to have a keen urge to resist it and sticking to degrees...should I drop it and look upon arrogantly at those who use degrees henceforth?

I kinda been liking degrees and there comes along Mr. textbook and says "scientists use radians more, it's more practical"...or something along these lines. Isn't it like switching a keyboard format after all this time? I kinda got used to QWERTY

You NEED to use radians. Degrees are like stabiliser wheels on a bike - sooner or later you have to take them off if you want to go faster! Can't do calculus on trig functions proper with degrees.

Thank you Xas...I've taken your words to heart.

Yup, get them under your belt you'll need them.
I didn't do them before I came to uni, and I found that to be somewhat of a disadvantage (in my case it was for analogue electronics).

The embedded trigonometry functions in most (maybe all) programming languages/applications take radians as opposed to plain old degrees as their arguments. Can't avoid 'em I'm afraid.
EDIT: Anyway, converting between degrees and radians on the fly is easy-peasy.
