My Color-Blindness Simulators

Post by lpetrich » Sat Feb 12, 2011 11:40 pm

With the help of some papers and software for simulating color blindness, I have come up with some software of my own. I not only simulate the three familiar human kinds (protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia), but also dog vision and the response of each kind of cone.

Its home page: Color-Blindness Simulators

What it links to:

A webpage version - works in Firefox 3.5 and later. Does not seem to work in any other web browser. It's also a little bit buggy.
A standalone app - a Java jar file; you can run it like any other app
A collection of filter files - zip archive:
  • Adobe Photoshop channel-mixer files: .cha
  • GIMP channel-mixer files
  • OSX Quartz-Composer files: .qtz -- can use in OSX Pixelmator
  • Some command-line tools written in Java and Python
