Re: MGS3: Snake Eater Mafia - Tactical Espionage Action DAY
Exactly a mass day 1 RC all scum has to do is claim vanilla town - so the lynches will be between VT and actual scum, and scum can hit all the specials at night.
UT - RC = Roll Claim.
UT - RC = Roll Claim.
Re: MGS3: Snake Eater Mafia - Tactical Espionage Action DAY
RC = roll claim. PC = power claim. I would RC as the name of my character. If I had some special ability (such as role blocker or doctor for example) that's what I would share for a PC. Man, things are very different here.

Then scum would be able to target youandrewclunn wrote:RC = roll claim. PC = power claim. I would RC as the name of my character. If I had some special ability (such as role blocker or doctor for example) that's what I would share for a PC. Man, things are very different here.

Re: MGS3: Snake Eater Mafia - Tactical Espionage Action DAY
If it looks like I'm going to get lynched, why not out my information to save myself? Even if I get killed that night, it will be one less kill form scum starting day 2 because they had to waste their night kill on me, rather than somebody else because town lynched me. That's what I'm not getting about this no to claims, but yes to lynch on day 1 approach.Feck wrote:Then scum would be able to target youandrewclunn wrote:RC = roll claim. PC = power claim. IF you have a town special power then to save yourself then you might have to out just before the lynch ,but calling for others to out is not beneficial for town . And panicking prematurely because there are a few votes on you if you are a special makes it very easy for scum .

re. andrew, I'm seeing bewilderment over the changes in method of game play, it's not striking me as especially scummy at this point.

Andrew, I think no one here has played mafia in the way you have (with claiming early being standard play). I just can't see how it really helps. Scum always get safe fake claims to protect against a mass role claim. If players with special powers out then scum have a smorgasbord to choose from with their night kill, they don't have to do any guessing in the game at all.

echo that. First I thought he was from a higher dimension of mafia. But now I think our game has maybe moved up a level.Athene wrote:re. andrew, I'm seeing bewilderment over the changes in method of game play, it's not striking me as especially scummy at this point.
Re: MGS3: Snake Eater Mafia - Tactical Espionage Action DAY
Well, I'll just accept (even if I'm not entirely certain I agree) that differences in the standard game mechanics (scum always receiving fake roles for example) result in different optimal town strategies, and adapt my play accordingly. That said,

Honestly the 'rules' you have played under before are VERY different

Outing if you're on the point of being lynched? Yes, we do that. That's when some scum players will fake claim, by the way, creating wifom ... that latter point being another reason mass role claiming too early doesn't work well for town. Mass claiming later in the game ... after a few nights and some info has been gathered ... has shown to be very advantageous for town, though.andrewclunn wrote:If it looks like I'm going to get lynched, why not out my information to save myself? There is one game I recall where a certain newcomer to ratz mafia managed to get a mass role claim within the first couple of days and his team went on to win the game. He turned out to be scum don, iirc.

However, I agree with Athene's take ... for now. There's a possibility Andrew is the traitor, but I'm leaning townie with different mafia cultural baggage.
This game of amok's is reminding me of her last game where she got kinda caught up in defending her idea and therefore didn't seem to get on with scum-hunting ... she flipped town that game. amok, I get what you're saying, but you seem to be missing a couple of points that have been made more than once. I agree with you (and UT's recent post) that MZ's info doesn't clear him.
DP's looking like getting my vote today. The vote on Andrew looks opportunistic and clunky.

Point taken. I fucked up by being frustrated and obstinate.

It may be true that the law cannot make a man love me, but it can keep him from lynching me, and I think that's pretty important.

Thanks for the link.andrewclunn wrote:No. Scum wouldn't want to do that. Town wouldn't want somebody wasting their investigative power. There's really no reason to draw a view (which I refer to as a cop investigation, so if I use that term instead you'll know what I mean.) Again though, what does FoS mean?Feck wrote:Andrew could be trying to draw a view ?
##unvote andrewclunn##
There are roles where you would want to be viewed or acted upon. Think someone mentioned scum don, who often views as town, or for town a bomb that kills any player doing a night action on the bomb player, etc.
But Day 1 mass role claiming sounded bizarre to many of us, gives scum a great advantage in special hunting and so on.

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.
