Re: Now what are you playing now 2: Limited Collectors Editi
First review is in for Borderlands 2. Gamesmaster magazine with the exclusive.
Here's a run down of the review. Seems to have made a much better game dealing with any issues from the first one including lack of colour and samey missions.

I thought you'd be more interested in the Dark Souls DLC coming out.

I'll be playing when I get it. I'm under the same name so send a request and mention here. I have (or paid for) the ones you mentioned too, and I'm with you on Risen 2. I haven't had time to go back and play since I was killed by a jaguar walking into the forest on the first island. I did play a bit of Sleeping Dogs recently - pretty good, and a huge area to drive in. Cops really don't like guns, though - they come quick.Animavore wrote:Either ofyou playing Borderlands 2 on PS3? It is a little jerky graphics wise, and the controls are not the best, but it came with the two DLC adventures, so I'm giving it a try. The only sad part is no ship combat. I have to wait for Assassin's Creed 3 for that, apparently.dj357 wrote:Currently playing the balls off Terraria, Dead Island (co-op) and Borderlands 1 (co-op and in anticipation of Borderlands 2). Also dipping in and out of Skyrim, Assassins Creed 1, Minecraft, Batman: Arkham City, Fallout 3, Combat Arms and Blacklight Retribution. Finally finished Red Faction: Guerilla last night after giving up a few years ago after dying on the final mission like a million times.
Oh, and they're spread across Xbox 360, PS3 and PC!
I'll be playing BL2 once it comes out, but I'm not sure how much time I'll have - most of the last few weeks have been consumed by setting up and taking care of my classes, and I've barely had any time for myself. That will have to change since the stress is cranking up my acid reflux and I have to go back to the GI docs.

I like the new Ratchet and Clank updates for PS3 (although I haven't got them yet). Been playing a bit of All-4-One with a buddy. Enjoyable, especially if we miss jumps and die - good for laughs.tattuchu wrote:Jak & Daxter has been re-released for the PS3. So I'm playing the first one, Precursor Legacy. I remember it as a colorful fun little game. But I'm getting really fucking pissed offMostly fighting the goddamn shitty camera. It's very very frustrating playing a platformer in which, for various reasons I'm too pissed off to get into, you can't see where you're fucking going
![]()
Also I'm stuck and have progressed as far as I can progress, and I can't figure out what to do now. There are certain areas I can't get to, for instance, because I can't jump far enough. What gives? Do I get a longer jump later in the game? No fucking idea![]()
Also, very early on in the game, I'm supposed to see a fisherman to borrow his boat in order to go to an island. Only there's no fucking fisherman to be found anywhere at all anywhere
As for Jak - can't help you there. I never got too far into that. I also hate cameras that are set up badly - Lego Star Wars comes to mind. Jumping towards you at the bottom of the screen where you can't see anything? WTF? R&C A-4-O is also like that, but it's not as bad.

Re: Now what are you playing now 2: Limited Collectors Editi
So The Secret World was fun, but has nowhere near enough content to be considered an MMO. At best its a single player with hop in group content. Great design, great fun, but it just stops. I'll try it again nest year, because despite myself I think I may have found a new home.
I'm a bit peeved about it actually. Y'see I purchased Guild Wars 2 for the good lady Strange, but I cannot get her away from LOTRO for some reason. So I thought I'd give it a go, even thought I didn't really fancy another WoW style MMO.
I grudgingly began to have fun. Now? Now I'm spending too much time on it. I'm thoroughly enjoying myself. I have not needed to join groups to do group content, I've been in hilarious PVP clusterfucks, raid style world bosses and not giving a shit about gearing or levelling up. That just happens. I love the fact that you are attuned to the areas difficulty level, no matter what level you are. I love the normalisation of gear and stats in PVP. I love the gear, the crafting, the plotlines, my personal story, my beautiful beautiful female elementalist.
I love that it's a gorgeous world filled with lots and lots of diversions that you can get lost in.
And I love that Arenanet is banning the shit out of arseholes and publicly exposing why they were banned. I hate to admit it, because I wanted this to fail, but GW2 is great fun and if they maintain it and cultivate it they way they have coming out the gate. With NO susbscription fees?
Why would anyone but hardcore raiders stay in WoW?
I'm on Piken Square in Europe. If anyone wishes to join me please feel free to PM me.

Re: Now what are you playing now 2: Limited Collectors Editi
I finished Jak & Daxter. I went online for help and found that there were two ways to do an extra long jump, required for doing certain tasks and completing the game. I don't remember either of these two moves explained during the initial tutorial session, so that's kinda stupid since you can't progress in the game without knowing these moves.Badger3k wrote: I like the new Ratchet and Clank updates for PS3 (although I haven't got them yet). I'm on Jak II now. I'd forgotten how awesome this game is. It's fucking hilarious! And kinda sweet in parts, too. It is so much better than the similar Ratchet and Clank it isn't even funny, at least in regard to the characters and story. First, unlike R&C, Jak&D actually has a story, and a story that's interesting. It also has great character designs, and great characterization. These characters are fleshed out and seem real, and you actually care about them and are interested in their plight. And some of them are fucking hilarious! I mean laugh out loud funny. I love doing missions for Krew, the big huge fat guy with little atrophied legs that floats on a hover chair who talks with an English accent, who ends every sentence with "'eeey?" or "hmm?", just to hear what he's gonna say next. Daxter himself is genuinely funny as a sidekick to Jak, as opposed to Clank, who's boring and annoying and makes corny jokes that aren't funny at all. Ratchet himself is a great character design, but doesn't have much in the way of any real personality. And the secondary characters, like Qark, are just stupid and annoying.
The strength of the Jak & Daxter games are the character and the story. The missions are fun, too, but hampered by the frustrating camera and controls. The strength of the Ratchet and Clank games are the camera and controls, and of course blowing shit up. Ratchet is just somebody to hold the gun you're shooting. A cute furry somebody. But just a somebody. If only J&D had the impeccable controls of R&C.
It's frustrating.
There was a mission, for instance, in which I had to go from point A to point B while being attacked by wave after wave of Krimson Guard. Should have been fun, but instead it was maddening. Why? The goddamn camera. It doesn't follow you. And you end up being attacked by hordes of enemies you can't fucking see. In the Ratchet and Clank games, the camera follows you. And not only does it follow you, but you can adjust how quickly if follows you. Not so here. And if you stop to manipulate the camera, it takes too much time and then the Guard are right on top of you and you die. What I ended up having to do was, if I saw shots coming from behind me, was to turn around and shoot blindly in that direction, then turn back around and deal with the enemies again that I could actually see. Well, mostly see. Because you can't look up or down.
Which leads me to another mission I haven't been able to get past. I'm in a subterranean chamber and being shot at from all directions. I need to eliminate these enemies so I can perform the task required of me. Only I can't see the enemies. Why? They're up on platforms. And I'm incapable of looking up. So, again, I'm shooting blindly. My weapon targets the enemy, but not reliably. And there are too many enemies, and they're all shooting at me, and I can't see any of them.
And then there are things like no strafe option. Sometimes I'm up against a very difficult enemy that's shooting like crazy at me. What I need to do, what I'd like to do, is to ran past him quickly, side to side, and get in a few shots while evading his fire. Or, to hide behind something and peek out to fire. Can't. The only way to shoot him is to stand right out in the open. But when I stand right out in the open, I get shot. And die.
Also frustrating is driving the hover cars. It should be fun but it's not. It's impossible to drive anywhere without either bumping into other vehicles (if you're in high mode) or Krimson Guard (if you're in low mode). If you hit a Guard, you're fucked. They attack you. You die. Rarely can you evade them once you've pissed them off. Also, you can't turn and look to the side if you're driving, like, to look for something you're, say, looking for. The only thing you can do is to watch the little map icon on the screen. But it's difficult to watch that and watch where you're driving at the same time.
So, yeah. Very frustrating. Great game. Awesome game, amazing game. But frustrating.
