Well, I should think the key point was that they had a 30 to 60% mortality rate. That seems a tad bit high.

But, in any case, some of the Canadians here seem to have been unaware that they actually had wars with the native peoples, and claimed that such events never occurred.

In Canada, the Brits apparently just pulled the boats up to L'Anse Aux Meadows and signed a lease for Newfoundland, and reimbursed the natives for the rent that the Vikings had left unpaid. Then they moved in, and bought the remaining land, bit by bit, in fair negotiations at fair market value prices. I think in the 1700's, they used zillow.com to price Ontario. The French gave the native Canadians perfumed French whores in exchange for Quebec City and Montreal. In Saskatchewan, the Canadians and the native Canadians lived side by side in harmony. They'd even lend each other tools from their respective garages and not worry about getting them back. :coffee:

Standard modus operandi for the British at the time, iirc.

The Empire was built by the redcoats bob-a-jobbing around the world...

Helpful fellows those redcoats.

are we discussing the difference between British policy and US or Canadian.

The Brits introduced slavery to the US - the Dutch were content with long indentures.

Canada is not Britain. Lets keep the distinctions.

Of course Canada is Britain - it has the Queen as Head of State, and the new head of the Bank of England is Canadian...

Canada is more like the US than, say, Morocco.

I must confess I wasn't considering as far back as how both countries dealt with da injun problem (simply variations of butt fucking)..........more about why in modern times (last 50 - 70 years?) that Canada had not populated itself as much as the USA and built a similar scale of economy (BTW not saying it would have been a good thing to do).

We like our space. Birthrates also drop when you have to walk 100 kilometres to fuck your sister.

That's why you should keep your sister at home, chained in the basement. Saves a lot of time.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Just back from Morocco and there is a close to civil war between secular and religious nuts, so I would go for Morocco being closer to the US than Canada
