If I was going to kill someone my first choice would certainly be a firearm. Preferably a long gun, from a substantial distance. Then a quick fishing trip in the Gulf, maybe 30 - 40 miles offshore. We don't need no stinking ballistics.

I'd use one of those Hilti nail drivers - they're powered by a small charge that propels the driving pin forward to sink nails into concrete. Remove the nail clip and use it like 'friendo' used his pneumatic cow-killer thing in No Country for Old Men. It's much more portable.. but somewhat loud.
