I used to love Newspeak. A group of us at school drove our teachers nuts with it. We were able to speak at fast as English. It was very adversarial in its tone but a great laugh. The teachers organised a meeting where gave a demonstration to the staff.

Indeed. I think we also have to remember that the Russians are the practised masters of the black arts here. I've always thought that the campaign, and Trump personally, have been played by the Russians - with some members of the campaign team being willing to curry favour with their boss by playing along. I don't think Trump went out to get the help of the Russians. Like the big kid he is he was just gleafull at the prospect of getting free candy, like information that would discredit his opponent, when someone else brought it to the table etc. Also, the report might not have found enough to ding him on, but he wrote Don Jnr's statement about the Trump Tower meeting on Airforce 1 - so he's still a liar. But as someone once pointed out, there's nothing illegal about lying - everybody does it.Sean Hayden wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 7:47 amBenghazi conspiracies were used by Republicans to try to discredit Obama and later Clinton. Here we are witnessing the creation of a conspiracy of the manipulation of what Mueller's report actually says being used to discredit Trump and his administration.
Regarding the rest, I'd say that if you change the report so as to remove the possibility of concluding Mueller found evidence of Trump colluding with Russia, just not enough to warrant prosecution, that you'd have blatantly distorted Mueller's intent.

Something else to consider is that the Barr memo specifically defined coordination asBrian Peacock wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 8:46 amIndeed. It's unclear if that includes non-governmental agents working on behalf of the Russian government, and is the kind of thing the actual report could clarify. While not rising to the level of a crime, the detail could be politically damaging. If Trump gets portrayed as a sucker, he could be in trouble. In assessing potential conspiracy charges, the Special Counsel also considered whether members of the Trump campaign “coordinated” with Russian election interference activities. The Special Counsel defined “coordination” as an “agreement—tacit or express—between the Trump Campaign and the Russian government on election interference.”
The thing is, the report is now caught up in the political spin machine of the 2020 election, and the White House has control of it for now, and the narrative. When the Congressional Democrats get hold of the report, and what they can get of it, will determine how much they can damage Trump.
Maybe in the whole process, we will get some truth. Maybe...

Re: All Things Trump: Is it over yet?
He is going to lock them up, except for Saturday Night Live which he will drive off the air for treason:
NBCWASHINGTON — President Donald Trump identified the enemies of his state Thursday night.
At a raucous campaign rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan — his first since Attorney General William Barr reported that the president would not be prosecuted for obstruction of justice and that special counsel Robert Mueller had not established the existence of a conspiracy between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russian operatives — Trump listed them by name and occupation.
"Little pencil-neck Adam Schiff," Trump said of the House Intelligence Committee chairman, who continues to oversee a Russia probe as the president's campaign seeks his resignation or expulsion from Congress.
"Jerry Nadler," he said, invoking the name of the House Judiciary chairman, who is looking into the obstruction-of-justice allegations for which Mueller, in the still-secret report to Barr, laid out evidence for and against concluding the president had committed criminal conduct.
"I have beat him many times, and now I have to come here and beat him again," Trump said of the New York Democrat.
"These people are sick," he continued. "All of the Democrat politicians, the media bosses, bad people. ... crooked journalists, the totally dishonest TV pundits. ... And all the current and former officials who paid for, promoted, and perpetuated the single greatest hoax in the history of politics in our country. They have to be — I am sorry, they have to be accountable."
The crowd chanted a solution for that: "Lock them up!"

well, that was common knowledge for quite some time even before he became a presidential canidate... I mean, the way he had competitors in The Candidate work their arses off for his company, only to axe them with the signature "you're fired" quip was enough to let one know that.

Oh, I'm sure they don't care about getting my support, or the support of anyone else, for that matter.Joe wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 1:46 amI don't think the intelligence agencies care about getting your support Forty Two. If it's dirty laundry, all the more reason to get it revealed as soon as possible. I am all for publicizing the report. If they want to make some "sources and methods" claim or "ongoing investigation" thingy or assert a claim of some legal privilege, then to get my support they would need to make a concrete and clear case for it. I don't trust them with the black magic marker, redacting all sorts of "sensitive" stuff.
Damned spooks!![]()
I'm also fine with them asserting some sort of national security reason for a secret. But, I don't trust them. So, I want specifics about why they need that, and I want someone to commit, with accountability, as to the specific reasons. And, when they lie, I want them fucking prosecuted. I don't trust them.
Do you? Are you going to just let Trump's intelligence agencies decide without accountability what gets kept secret or not? At least without complaining? I see a lot of Democrats very pissed off that we don't have the whole report and all supporting documentation released publicly now - I don't see much worry about sources and methods and such, do you?

So, those folks accuse him of treason and various other crimes, mock and belittle the guy for the last 3 1/2 years endlessly - ridiculing his face, his weight, his hands, his hair, his food, his beverages, his manner of doing everything - depicting him as stupid, evil, horrible, and not only that but in the pocket of foreign governments who "have something on him" - two years of false accusations that he he knew about wikileaks dumps in advance and the like - every couple of weeks a new monster breaking news that would finally destroy the guy they openly, and brazenly, loathe....Tero wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 2:29 pmHe is going to lock them up, except for Saturday Night Live which he will drive off the air for treason:NBCWASHINGTON — President Donald Trump identified the enemies of his state Thursday night.

It's really extraordinary that all that had to be said out loud in congress. It's stunning to see how truly rotten and corrupt the GOP has become. It's been headed here for a long time, I suppose, but seeing it in real time is disturbing and disgusting.Animavore wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 6:19 pmSpeaking of Adam Schiff, he put manners on Republican criminal politicians who asked him to resign.
