That's good to see, but I'm skeptical. The majority of Americans may not know what it is.

The question they were responding to is quoted in that graphic. It explains in clear language what Roe v. Wade is.

What do they say about abortion specifically?

According to Gallup some 47% think it is morally wrong. More interesting to the question raised by my post though is the difference between educated vs uneducated. The more education one has the less likely they are to view abortion as immoral.

To me this speaks to the possibility that pro-life arguments may indeed be easier to present and accept.

I'm not disputing your hypothesis. I'm pointing out that regardless of the ease of presenting arguments against women's reproductive rights, a significant majority of the US public doesn't want Roe v. Wade to be overturned, and that includes Republicans.

As recently as 2019 some 60% of Republicans wanted to make abortion illegal in all or most cases. How does that square with not wanting to overturn Roe v Wade, which is not nearly so restrictive? Did an opinion on something like abortion really change that much, that fast?

I think that the emotions of the "pro-lifers" are powerful because they are tied to natural human emotions when interacting with babies, wilfully ignoring the profound biological differences between a newborn baby and an early foetus. Their campaigns seek to ignite the same emotional response that they themselves are feeling...

And yes, they can compartmentalise their sentimental ideology from other issues such as capital punishment...
