I don't know. Once you are gay or a conpiracy nut, it's hard to deprogram you. Maybe just limit your conspiracies to city hall?

You think those deprogrammers are the same group that claime to cure gayness?

It was a joke. You can only deprogram gays with a bible. And it does not work.

That brings up some delightful images, of well-dressed clergy catching themselves sucking dick, and rushing back to read more bible, and read it harder.

Donald Turnip spouted a conspiracy theory that a well-funded cabal of powerful people stole the election.

So did Time dot com
https://time.com/5936036/secret-2020-election-campaign/
a well-funded cabal of powerful people, ranging across industries and ideologies, working together behind the scenes to influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information.
But 'fair' doesn't matter to a lot of folk, as long as the Orange Turnip was removed.

:funny: Pretty transparent attempt to poison the well there, old chap. Nonetheless, thank you for posting that excellent article. I've admired Molly Ball's work for a few years, and she doesn't disappoint here.

I think Podhorzer's work and that of others described in the article was an important part of keeping Trump from succeeding in his attempt to take a wrecking ball to democracy in the US. It appears that you disagree.

Please expand on your implied claim that what is described in the article was underhanded, unfair, and amounted to 'stealing' the election.

Time did not. You just engaged in a Steven Crowder style of misinterpretation. And egregious piece of quote mining. Here is the Time's paragraph in full, with the bits you left out to give it the opposite meaning of what it was about in bold:
That’s why the participants want the secret history of the 2020 election told, even though it sounds like a paranoid fever dream–a well-funded cabal of powerful people, ranging across industries and ideologies, working together behind the scenes to influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information. They were not rigging the election; they were fortifying it. And they believe the public needs to understand the system’s fragility in order to ensure that democracy in America endures.
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein’s brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops. - Stephen J. Gould

Man who wore horns in Capitol riot moved to Virginia jail that serves organic food

The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?

I didn't imply it, I read it in the article, I heard Turnip say it (pretty much) and it looks like the tech companies fairly conspired to support the candidate of their choice. Along with the rest of the cabal.

You say you read the article, but I wonder if that's an accurate description of what you did.

If you read it in the article, then it should be easy for you to show me with accurate quotes from the article how Podhorzer and the groups that worked with him stole the election. You will be able to demonstrate with accurate quotes from the article that what they did was unfair, and to whom it was unfair.

If you read the article you must realize that 'the tech companies' played a minimal part in the effort, and that the things that probably made the biggest difference in how the election was handled had next to nothing to do with them. Why do you make a point of giving them credit for it?

It's a great article because righties have no problem seeing the 'steal', while lefties can't see it at all. There are some few in the middle who can see both sides of it maybe, but I don't know any.

So I misspoke about the tech companies. Is that better, Lemmy? Does it change the fact that a cabal of the powerful is working behind the scenes to get their chosen candidate elected? For your own good, of course.

I read an article about it. You may remember that the first judge that dealt with him had made it sound like they would accommodate his dietary requirements. Then that didn't happen, and the doofus and/or his mother claimed that he'd lost twenty pounds while in jail because he 'can't' eat food with 'chemicals' (meaning additives of any kind) in it.

He cited his religion of shamanism, and got one or two known shamanists to support his claim. It's less trouble to give him his precious organic sustenance than to fight a court battle that they might well lose anyway.

Teach companies cracking down on hate speech and white nationalism etc, isn't supporting "the candidate of their choice". As Hermit keeps trying to tell you, they are supporting their bottom line.

Edit: Dunno if that's what you are actually talking about. Not going to read the thread.

No support for your claims, no quotes from the article, you just assert that you can 'see the the "steal"' and leave it at that. I understand. Those quotes are certainly in there, right? You're just too busy listening to Crowder and Pool to waste your time demonstrating something that would be obvious to anybody who isn't blinded by their political leaning. The article clearly recounts how the election was stolen, and if I don't see that it's my own failing, is that it?

I don't think you misspoke. I think you've allowed propagandists to make 'the tech companies' some kind of universal bad actor in your mind, and if there's something going on in politics and public life that you disapprove of, it's bound to be the fault of 'the tech companies' boogeyman.
