I'm pretty sure that if the liberal media just dismissed the idea and patently ridiculous, rather than wringing their hands over how terrible it is, Trump would move onto to something else. The fact that everyone is in a froth about this, and because of that they're being bounced into 'driving engagement', is exactly what Project 2025's PR team are hoping for. This is all about pwning the libs, and using their #OUTRAGE as justification.

Members of the Board of Peace
Donald Trump – President of the United States (chair)[21]
Around 60 countries received invitations to join the Board of Peace.[22] The following countries have been invited to participate as founding members. Countries that wish to be permanent members of the Board of Peace must pay US$1 billion into a fund controlled by chairman Donald Trump, otherwise they will serve a 3-year term.[23]
Trump is lifetime chair? How long is that?

My prescious! Gollum wants the whole thing.
For Trump, the answer is obvious. He has never viewed merely placing more US bases, radars or missiles in Greenland — which the Danes have said they are ready and willing to accommodate, as they did during the Cold War — as an alternative to controlling the island entirely. Kelly, the White House spokesperson, said in her statement “As the President said, NATO becomes far more formidable and effective with Greenland in the hands of the United States, and Greenlanders would be better served if protected by the United States from modern threats in the Arctic region.”
Indeed, Trump has been consistent that the only way to truly reap Greenland’s benefits is to own it outright.

“We could put a lot of soldiers there right now if I want, but you need more than that,” he said last week. “You need ownership. You really need title.”

It is no different to Hitler's demands in Europe in '39...

It might help as a distraction, but this also has to be seen as part of a long-planned strategy: it's a skirmish in the growing war for hydrocarbons on a warming planet.

It's just a power play. Trump is obsessed with power.

That's what makes him such a useful tool. The art of the deal has always been the art of the threat; the art of the shakedown.

What if we trade? Trump gets Greenland, but he has to move there to be governor. Greenland PM comes and runs the USA for the last 3 years. He can even deport those Mexicans to Greenland to increase population and mine magnets for Trump.
