To be fair it is not a cop-out, but just semantic wankery and slight of hand tactics. I don't even know that many theists that find this argument even remotely convincing let alone atheists, but some seem to think it is the dogs bollocks.

Sorry, I assumed a different meaning and realised I was wrong on reading the Wiki page.

We should take care with bringing in the theists lest they find NSFW. And DOG help us if they find RNSFW.

For some reason, I don't feel like having the standard RDF quote of "Yeah Frank, we get it, you believe in God" every single thread. This is a horrible idea that I don't think can really be taken back once done.

Part of me is glad they are not here to be honest. I really hate to wade through pages of baseless assertions and rhetoric where I seem to lose the will to live more and more every day.

I like it here without them.

We invited a rabid theist and republican to join HOC when we were trying to recruit members under the assumption that it would create discussion and increase the volume of posting. It did actually achieve those things but in the process it started a lot of very negative arguing and a liberal/conservative split with in particular two members which ultimately resulted in massive falling out. Not sure opposites always work - especially on what is to all intents a social rather than ideological forum.

I must say, it's certainly nice to have a peaceful and rational retreat from that here, so maybe not ...

:pardon:
I think that's the key to this place. If we want to discuss religion, we can go to RDF. Here we can get away from that (and laugh at them behind their backs without having to face any preaching in return :shifty: or risk offending anyone with our atheistic dogma :dq: ).
Also we can call 'em cunts behind their backs and not get banned

We can also call Jesus, Moses, god and saint Paul cunts in front of them without getting banned if they do show up. Actually, not god or jesus, they're members here! :hehe:

+1 exactly. ON RDF I got quickly bored of fundies. Yeah, they're funny for the first half a page, but after a while it's just so..... tedious and repetitive. Also, people often treated them as retarded or something, in ways that were very offensive yet within the rules. OK, they were retarded, deluded or crazy, but that's no reason to ridicule someone who turns up thinking they 'have the answer'.
