Fucking shit 360!
My second 360 died a month or two ago. It was an 360 elite as well! I thought it Red Ringed, but when I took it to get fixed the bastards said they couldn't fix it. It's officially fucked! It didn't even last two years! I haven't got the warranty because I lost it

Did you register it when you bought it? No, of course not, nobody does that. Unless you have experience in handling insurance claims, in which case you do it for the most trivial of purchases. Or something.Lozzer wrote:My second 360 died a month or two ago. It was an 360 elite as well! I thought it Red Ringed, but when I took it to get fixed the bastards said they couldn't fix it. Re: Fucking shit 360!
Why would you need to register it? You just call them and they call to your house and give you a new one.Gawdzilla wrote:Did you register it when you bought it? No, of course not, nobody does that. Registration proves ownership, among other benefits. Your house burns down, how you going to prove you had certain items? I take pictures of the data plate on anything that costs over $100 and store it offsite. Quick and easy way to get information like serial number and (if you put a post-it next to the plate) date of purchase. I have pictures of my DVD collection so the insurance geeks can't say "Sure, you had 500+ DVDs, sure you did.Animavore wrote:Why would you need to register it? But you don't need insurance for the 360. Microsoft are aware of the red ring problem and will give you a new one without fuss if you get it.Gawdzilla wrote:Registration proves ownership, among other benefits. Re: Fucking shit 360!
I read recently on the beeb about this (consumer rights rather than specifically the 360) ... let's see if I can dig it up.... bingo here we go:Lozzer wrote:My second 360 died a month or two ago. And Lozzer said it wasn't a red ring problem, IIRC.Animavore wrote:But you don't need insurance for the 360. Re: Fucking shit 360!
So documenting the information on your purchases and keeping that info off-site will prove valuable if the shit hits the fan or you loose your registration, like Lozzer did.Animavore wrote:So?Gawdzilla wrote: And Lozzer said it wasn't a red ring problem, IIRC.

No I meant 'So?' in the truculent way. I just didn't read the OP correctly. Re: Fucking shit 360!
Red ring isn''t a problem with the new X-box because they stopped using the cheap shit.
Our x-box was a 'first generation' 360, and it lasted three years before getting the red ring, which I think is an intense achievement given we played it somewhere in the vicinity of four hours at a time, every weekend, and pretty much all day on holidays when we didn't have anything to do.
Can't be arsed getting it fixed, apparently. Parents think it'll be better to wait and just get a new one when the prices go down.
Also, lozzer, you shouldn't need the actual warranty, just proof of purchase. Also, you can go the x-box website and simply enter the serial key on t3h webz, and it should track yo shit, including whether it has a valid warranty. No official registration necessary.
Although, the fact that I used x-box lvie might have contributed to that.

I'm assuming you have a pc? Why not install a $100 graphics card instead?
