Zappa was a genius. I recommend listening to the OP right through!

Good idea. I've probably only ever done so a couple of hundred times in my life so far - once live!

His son isn't so terrible either, though he still needs to come out from his dad's shadow.

It's a helluva shadow. It's hard to see how Dweezil will ever be more than a footnote to Frank. Not from lack of talent, mind you, only because he'll always be compared to his dad.

Dweezil can match his old man in terms of guitarmanship but matching him as a composer is asking far more. IMO, there have only ever been a few handfuls of composers of Frank's ability in the history of music - I rate him that highly.

To hear Frank's music performed by someone that understands it as fully as his son and with a band that is as tight, proficient, and as obviously loving every minute of every performance, as any that Zappa Snr. assembled, is an incredible experience. As long as Dweezil is happy to tour with his dad's music, I am more than happy to pay to see him.

You have excellent taste my man! I agree with you. I still listen to Frank Zappa for hours on end from time to time.
