Well Doctor Who has been running since 1963 (with a hiatus from 1988 or thereabouts until the early 2000s), so you've missed a few episodes.Anthroban wrote:I don't think we get that show in Canada.. at least I don't with my awesome rabbit ears TV set :S

I've never come across that show though, sorry.

She was Romana to Tom Baker's Doctor, yes. Early 1980s? She and Baker were married at one point I think.Svartalf wrote:Hmmmm... forgive a complete Who illiterate, but if I recognize that scarf, is it really from that long ago?Thinking Aloud wrote:[

Wait, she took the Romana role? In the one I watched last night she was a princess and Romana is that other lady...Thinking Aloud wrote:She was Romana to Tom Baker's Doctor, yes. Early 1980s? Romana was a Time Lady - when she regenerated, she took on the appearance of the Princess ... I think ... or something ... because she liked it better.
I think it was written in somehow.

Naturally, it could all be accounted for in a way that made perfect sense...
I just wish one of our knitters here would make me a scarf like the Doctor's.

Mary Tamm was the original Romana, but she left for her own reasons, and Lalla was brought in (after having taken an earlier, minor role), from what I understand.

Then they for sudden joy did weep,
And I for sorrow sung,
That such a king should play bo-peep,
And go the fools among.
Prithee, nuncle, keep a schoolmaster that can teach
thy fool to lie: I would fain learn to lie.

Mmmh.... when it's Tom Baker wearing it as Dr Who, well, yeah, I can recognize it even without ever having seen a single episode of the series... that thing is nearly as iconic as the ridiculous uniforms in Star Trek.Anthroban wrote:Wait, wut? CBC has carried it sporadically over the decades, sometimes as afternoon filler and sometimes as middle of the night filler. They even carried a couple of recent seasons in prime time. Not surprised you missed it though, it was always a hit or miss thing with them.Anthroban wrote:I don't think we get that show in Canada.. at least I don't with my awesome rabbit ears TV set :S
