The funny thing is...

All of this matters not one fuck to Dawkins in the long run.

A year from now, tens of thousands of people will converge on his new forum/site and all of this crying, wailing and gnashing of teeth will mean nothing.

I remember people saying that the purge of feral OT would ruin Dawkins forum. He didn't care and it didn't - in fact there was even more traffic, just as there will be on his site in the years to come.

Much better to cut through all the crap and just settle down here or at Rationalskepticism (or both).

That's my take on all of this.

I wasn't a part of RD.net but I think the general consensus here is "the shit-storm has passed, Dawkins has apologized (kinda) and we're moving on." Some of us have lost respect for Dawkins, others feel the same as they always did but the vast majority if not all of us are over it. I certainly don't feel any ill-will towards Dawkins and although I'm weary of his new website format, I support his cause and wish him success. I wasn't personally wronged by Josh's actions, though, so ex-RDers might feel differently.

Meh. I was over it the day after it happened like I was after the purge and the schism.
I detest drama. Its largely needless. Life's too short to hold grudges. Just keep moving with the times and remain flexible and adaptable no matter what life dishes out. Push on and pass through.

Look in any drama thread and you'll see a huge absence of me.
I might even disappear off the map for a day. I have real-life drama. This is recreation for me.

Richard could care less what we want and do if it's not along side his agenda and profit. Oh yea and luuuving Josh as well is part of the membership agreement.. Anyone who doesn't like Josh is immediately banned. The other forum (what's the name?) seems to me is like begging to him "take us all back and keep us as your moderators. see we've even made one forum just to show you support and how much we luuuuuuv youuuu".

Not normally. I was referring specifically to the Dawkins incident. I came for the drama but I stayed for the quality forum.

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.
