Discovered his work yesterday. The man was a musical genius.

You should visit his house in Honfleur, Normandy. It has been converted into a very surreal museum.
His music was unique and beautiful. I would have loved to have seen the premier of 'Parade' - a ballet that he composed to a scenario by Cocteau, with stage and costumes designed by Picasso. Quite a line-up!

awww, I love Erik Satie. When I was a child my mother played Gnossiennes on the piano and it was so enchanting... it shut us up better than TV

I'm going to expose myself as a boorish philistine and say I never heard him 'til now.

Satie is lovely... it's probably the only classical music I listen too, apart from bits and bobs of classical world music. Have you seen the movie The Painted Veil? Gnossienne was in the soundtrack and strangely suited the 1920's Chinese scenery.

I'd only heard his Trois Gymnopédies before this. The rest is a lot better from what I hear now.

Just after listening to the other 3 songs. I actually have at one time heard every single one of them before.

Wonderful stuff. I must have played Steve Hackett's Sketches of Satie a thousand times by now.

Yep, good stuff!
