If I were going to a 60's dance party, sure.
Thanks for the suggestions folks. Still looking through them all.

It sounds oddly like a theme song to something...

Smother's Brothers perhaps you are thinking of
Mr. Williams was the head writer for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour at the time of the piece's release, and indeed, he actually premiered the selection on the show. Williams performed it several times over several episodes. After the piece had reached the Top Ten, Williams asked an experimental filmmaker named Dan McLaughlin to create a video montage of classical art works edited in time to the music, using a visual effect now known as kinestasis. The pioneering work, 3000 Years of Art, premiered in the summer of 1968 and may have helped push the song high on the charts.[2][3]

The drum solo on the recording is the best drum solo I've ever heard. Bit too much impro on this live version.

Lime and limpid green, a second scene, a fight between the blue you once knew. Floating down...etc. Astronomy Domine isn't an instrumental, maroon.Gawdzilla wrote:"Astronomy Domine" (sp?) by Pink Floyd. I love the little laugh at the end on the recorded version - clearly they were glad to get through the 5/4 monster on beat. The drum solo on the recording is the best drum solo I've ever heard. Bit too much impro on this live version.
Did not see the original recording....might be worth posting just for that little laugh.

I've been a Pat Metheny fan for years - he does some great instrumental work - voice is included in some of his work, but as an instrument - there are no words.

ELO:
Bowie has a lot of instrumentals from his Berlin era. There's actually a Bowie album, All Saints, which collects all his instrumentals. Here's one of the songs:

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
