I didn't say or mean I trust her not to be scum in this game. I merely meant that if she is town, she is a good scum-hunter (in my experience - both games I played she was town and good at scum-hunting).

No matter how well someone has played as a townie in past games, it does not translate into being worthy of a mayorship under these circumstances. Voting for someone who hasn't even posted yet is detrimental to the town. Why not hold off until you can get a read on her in this game?

In my experience (total 2 games) people vote anyone at any slightly suspect or not reason for mayor. Last time I played, we got the bloody don as mayor (mantis in monopoly, as I recall - and yes, OB I played that, thanks - sat out the one after). Charlou is a shrewd and generally less vocal player. I trust her if she is town to be a good scum-hunter and make good calls. I have never seen her scum game, but can imagine it to be difficult too. I don't know if I'll ever be able to read her (Ijust as I can't get a handle on Feck). In fact, I'm not good at reading anyone - I approach this game by analysing behaviour, not by reading people. The strict time limits do actually mean that voting is necessary, though I tend to be more reserved with lynch votes. Others just throw votes round like water on a hot day...

But that is not what you are doing. You are not analyzing the behavior of people playing the game, you are making assumptions about people who have either not posted yet or have yet to show much substancial participation. A good town player has to get a read on other players based on their gameplay - that's the point of Mafia - to suss out scum.

I agree. I'm not a fan of the time limit at all. I am used to a two week long Day One, so this is a major change of pace for me. I don't like throwing out votes without reason, either.

Honestly your readiness to elect a player who has yet to check in gives me the idea you have some sort of ulterior motive than scum hunting. This could just be novice town play, but I am not ruling out other explanations. Make reads on other players and sharing your opinion of their gameplay, please.
