Girls and physics....

Post by Dory » Mon Feb 21, 2011 5:53 pm

So, I'm studying mechatronics, 1st year.

We're 2 girls in class (ahem) and there are 50 students. The other girl is a total nutjob. Seriously, no cattiness from my side. We're studying basic statics and she's mad as hell that she can't understand our teacher (we all do have our work cut out for us a bit as our teacher doesn't teach in his native language). She is actually trying to get him fired, and he's aware of it. She's been to the assistant principle, the principle, the dean, and who-not. She's been arguing out loud with him during many of our classes, and yells at everybody who disagrees with her (she yelled at me once, and I just tried to comfort her!). At every mechanics class we had, she either complained during or just left. It went for a whole friggin' semester! Which, of course, she failed. Now we started the second semester, she's as pissed as ever, saying in all seriousness that if he doesn't quit she will puncture his tires, and that he doesn't know who's he messing with. She's also making a petition to fire our teacher and she wants all the students to sign on it! She's asked me, as well, and stated that "I will sign on it whether I want it or not", and that it doesn't matter that I got an A and that the teacher likes me, I'm still gonna sign her. I didn't answer it since she was in such a fit, but there's no way I'm gonna sign it. The teacher likes me. He's not perfect, but he's okay.

I gotta admit, seeing her crazy-go-'round all the time is making me grin and chuckle. I keep thinking that if I wasn't there (and I'm an A student..so far...) all the guys would think that girls are useless and should stay out of engineering/math/physics! Now, fine, you all know my little secret, but I'm convinced they don't...

I also admit that I gain a little pleasure out of this whole show... it just makes me think that what I do to get to where I am in terms of knowledge hasn't been easy... this is the first time most of our class had seen free body diagrams, vectors, etc. But after I have my laugh I actually offer to help her...which I did give her a few private lessons (we didn't do enough before the test so she failed...)...which she thanked me for. I found her to be an extremely self-destructive student, wasting most of the time we had with telling jokes with her friend (which I also helped to).

I can't wait to see where all this dramaqueening would lead. She doesn't seem to have a mind to quit, nor does she have a mind to accept things as they are. But, one of those things have to happen. Being around her is like stepping inside of a soapbox- oh which you can become an active participant in any moment-- but you really don't want to!

I just had to tell it to someone...

Girls are crazy fuckers....

Tomorrow will be interesting. ..

If only she could channel her rage and built a robot arm that punctured his tires, she would surely pass.

Seems she's the one with the problem? I'm sure if he was genuinely incompetant they'd have sacked him and got someone far better for far less in the current economic climate?

There are several more who struggle, but she's the most vocal about it and tries to subvert all the others who feel a little weak. The guys, being guys, don't complain. But she's the pack leader and acts like a total child who doesn't get her way. I can't believe she's 25! Most of the time during class you can hear her joke around. She's very boisterous and looking to talk and be heard all the time. Yesterday she talked out loud on the phone around everyone saying to someone "I haven't gone laid in a while where have you been handsome?"

I couldn't believe I was hearing that. Heh, what can I say...class A entertaining.

And no the teacher is okay. Not perfect. Comes with a thick russian accent. Watcha gonna do? This is Israel, and most of the science teachers in colleges are Russians. So, I'm okay with him..he rather seems to like me.

Maybe the guys understand what is being said for some reason to do with the nature of the male brain understanding the male brain? :smoke:

LOL! Yep.... I can support that theory. :D I just think that guys learn to deal with tough situations without bitching about it all the time, so I definitely fall in line with the guys here.... but I really think that this girl is a unique brand of whiny bitchy boisterous girls (and I know a lot)...a personality that no guy would have if he wanna get around in life. So, yea, I believe there is some merit to this statement.

I stick up for the teacher including a few others. Yesterday during class when she bitched to our math teacher about how the department head teacher sucks, we were cheering his name from behind and saying that we wouldn't have sign up for this college if he hadn't been the head of this department, and that he's the best ever. She turned at me and said "Or, don't let them drag you down!" LOL...

But last thing I wanna do is to seriously pick a fight with her. I rather sit from the side and draw as much entertainment as I can from it. It's not my job to fix it, it's the college's. But, I will stick up for the teacher at a given opportunity and have done so in the past. It's rather atrocious what she's doing.
