I finally listened to the songs. Good stuff.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Wow! Somebody noticed the thread! Glad you liked him, Rob. He's one of those guitarists that are best described as 'a well kept secret'. He also played a mean sax - somebody posted a youtube link to a live set somewhere once but I can't find it.

I saw him i think late 80's or 90's at the reading hexagon - it was very loud! he did an excellent bit with just him & slide acoustic gtr. there werent many people there though.

I saw him in the early to mid 70s in (I think) the Roundhouse in London. Sure he was good, but mostly he was fast. I am not sure how much innovation, so much as pure speed, be brought to the electric guitar.
